2 Days in Penang

Happy long weekend everyone!

So i just came back from Penang . Have you ever heard Penang? It is one of the states in Malaysia which the capital city is George Town. Since i am in Malaysia for 6 months so visiting Penang is a must for me cause it is famous (if you dont know, you should google Penang). If you guys often checking flights promo then you must be have ever seen penang as destination.

To go to Penang, there are some ways such as by plane, train, or bus. Yesterday me and my friend (Nadhila) took bus because we did not get flight promo cause this trip was all of sudden. It is one hour flight from KL to Penang and 5-6 hours by bus from KL to Penang, and 4 hours by train from KL to Penang. You guys can choose which way to go.

If you wanna go to penang by bus from KL, you can start whether from KL Sentral or Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS). There are two terminals in penang you can choose, Butterworth or Nibong river. The differences are if you stop at butterworth then you need to take Ferry to cross the river to be in Penang island , but if you choose to stop at Nibong river, then you dont need to take Ferry cause nibong river terminal is already in penang island.

I stopped at nibong river terminal really in the morning around 5 am so it is still dark. Bodohnya, i took taxi from terminal to my hostel, i suggest you guys to better take grab, because the taxi is so expensive :” if i took grab i only need to pay RM14, but by taxi we paid RM 40! :’(((((((

Basically, most of must-visit places in penang are located in George Town and i stayed in hostel which the location is in george town, exactly Ryokan Muntri Boutique Hosel in Muntri Street (Lebuh Muntri). I stayed in penang only for 2 days, and that is enough (for us) to explore Penang.

Day 1 we went to penang hills (bukit bendera). You can take Penang Rapid number 204 and the price is RM 2, then you stop at the last stop which is bukit bendera. After that, you take the train to go up to the hill and the price is RM 15(because i have student card) the price is included the entrance fee. The train is quite new for me cause the lane is 45°. Here you arrive in penang hill! You can see the view of penang from the hill, it is so beautiful! You can even see buildings, sea, and the penang bridge from up above. There are so many photo spots there, so you must go to penang hills! And the second destination is Kek Lok Si, i went there but it was so HOT really really HOT, in penang the weather is very hot, even hotter than KL ( i think). So i didnot reach the top of Kek Lok Si temple. Hehehehe. Next destination is just strolling around the george towns, you can visit Fort Cornwallis (RM10 for students) , esplanade, victoria clock tower, city hall, wat chaiya mangkalaram (thai buddhist temple), Dhammikarama (Burmese Temple), last place on 1st day we went to gurney drive! There are so many street foods! Many choices like chinese food, western food, malaysian food. I tried rujak pasembur because many people on internet recommend it.... and i dont like it hahahah. But you guys should try cause it’s so penang.

Day 2, we hunted street arts as many as we could! Cause that is what penang famous for. Also, we went to wonderfood which is a food museum in Penang. I was so happy to be there cause so many foods... (although they are fake) so for you who like to eat much just visit this museum! And then we visited upside down museum, many interesting pics we took!

Thoughts on Penang
Well.... i gotta say that it is not crowded and not noisy in penang, the city is so peaceful and quiet, so if you guys want to find some places to relax you can come to penang. Penang is like old town, so many old buildings such as museum and the city has so many history. The weather is fricking hot so maybe you should bring umbrella or walking around the city on morning, evening, and night. You need to take map from your hotel to know where to go in george town cause basically you can walk around the town and finding so many street arts.
